Cost Control in Azure

A budget in Azure Cost Management emails you when your spending reaches a threshold you set, for example 80% of the monthly amount you expect for the Embedsy Portal and your capacity. We recommend one for everything you run in Azure.

A budget only sends alerts. It doesn't stop or pause anything. Costs reach Azure with a delay of 8 to 24 hours, so an alert can arrive a day after the spending.

Creating a budget

  1. In the Azure Portal, open the subscription, or the resource group that holds the Embedsy Portal, and select Budgets in the menu. If your capacity is in another resource group, use the subscription so the budget covers both.
  2. Select Add, enter a name, choose a reset period (for example Monthly), an expiration date and the budget amount, then select Next.
  3. Add one or more alert conditions: an Actual or Forecasted threshold as a percentage of the budget, and the email addresses to notify. Then select Create.

Add azure-noreply@microsoft.com to your approved senders so the alerts don't end up in junk mail. The Microsoft documentation covers budgets in detail, including the permissions you need.
